We’re getting deep today comedy fam… This week’s episode will definitely have you thinking as I sit down with OG Hot Breathren Rome Green. He was a member of YouTube’s first comedy group, Dormtainment, who built such a big following they got a show on Comedy Central. They were the FIRST comedy group to bridge the gap between YouTube and TV. So he has seen the evolution of comedy over the years and has a lot of insights I’ve never heard before about what we comics can learn from the past. Rome has been a fan of Hot Breath! for years and we connected on my most recent LA trip to talk the future of comedy of what comics can do that sets them apart from anyone else. The champ is here! After several months in the making, Earthquake is on the show! All of this started over a year ago when we did a review of his comedy special: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHQ9UhGSY5U&t=572s Quake was so excited about the review that he reposted and reached out about being on the show. And thus the adventure begins… A few months later I met Quake backstage to record our interview and everything went wrong… The lighting was terrible… The seating was awkward… And I had the first audio recording failure EVER… Yes in over 400 interviews this fateful interview with Earthquake didn’t happen because my recorder kept freezing. You can see us below in the blown out lighting and me holding my phone trying to capture whatever audio I could… At the end of the day it just wasn’t meant to be…until NOW! We kept in touch and a few months later I flew out to LA to record our official interview at Kevin Hart’s LOL studios. What’s most inspiring about this interview is that it’s all about comics helping comics. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny Brendan Schaub’s impact on comedy. Regardless if you believe his impact is for better or worse, you can’t deny he gets more online hate than other comedian. I’m all about comics helping comics and wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery, so I flew out to LA and spoke to Brendan directly about this topic and he does not disappoint. Our conversation not only addresses his controversies but also his system behind creating his own media company. What most impresses me about Brendan’s career is his business acumen and I wanted to learn all about it.
