#104: Using Your Voice with Rita Ekelman

Rita Ekelman is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 12 years of nutrition related experience specifically treating people who suffer from various types of eating disorders, addictions and other co-occurring disorders. Rita brings with her experience specifically working with clients at the residential, PHP, IOP and Outpatient levels of care. Rita received her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Dominican University shortly after she went on to get her Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration. At this time

Rita also completed her dietetic internship program where her last semester was spent researching and working with people who suffer from eat disorders and other co-occurring disorders.

Over the last 6 years Rita has provided Executive, Administrative and Marketing leadership to staff at various treatment centers in the midwest, where she ensured clients are being provided with the best quality of care

throughout their recovery process. Previous to this Rita served as the Director of Nutrition Services at a Residential Treatment Center, where she managed and provided the day-to-day supervision and training to over 20 Registered Dietitians and Nutrition Therapy Technicians specifically treating people who suffer from various types of eating disorders.

Currently Rita is working on growing her own private practice (Rita Ekelman - Nutrition Consulting LLC), where she is able to focus more on the one to one nutrition counseling with her clients. Rita helps clients establish a healthy relationship with food and their body in order to maintain long-term success in their recovery and how they view themselves. Rita helps clients find their triggers, ackowldege and pinpoint cycles of harmful food-behaviors, and establish goals in how to decrease/abstain from disordered eating patterns. Along with seeing clients, Rita also

does some consulting work for various treatment centers related to marketing and nutrition programs
