This episode is all about building self-trust as a tool to manage fear, anxiety, and overwhelm.
I’ll say it a thousand times, action is the key to minimizing anxiety and overwhelm… you can’t talk yourself out of something that didn’t start in your head, it’s a sensation in your body, a mobilization of the stress response and then your frontal brain tries to make sense of the feelings and starts telling whatever story it can.
Self-trust is a really hard thing to achieve when we aren’t aware of our own feelings and needs because we end up looking outside of ourselves in fear that we will make the wrong choice and doubt our ability to choose what is best for ourselves or at leas that we can figure it out…
and when you spend your time dismissing your feelings, your experience, yourself, and judging, criticizing and shaming yourself… it’s hard to build to trust with someone who treats you like that…and when that person is you… your internal environment is a threat… so everything feels threatening and you’re anxious, stressed, and questioning everything you do.
