269: Gorod

Dreams of Consciousness Podcast Episode 269 features an interview with Julien "Nutz" Deyres of Gorod.

25 years since they started as high school metalheads emulating their favourite bands, French band Gorod are standard bearers for forward thinking and progressive metal. Though largely categorized as "tech death", their music bears the influence of everything from old school death metal to hardcore, psychedelic rock, jazz and even funk; as vocalist Julien Deyres puts it, "There will always be a little funky touch in the music."

I spoke with Julien about what led him to join Gorod in 2010, and what the most difficult type of vocal is for him to perform. We also discussed why the band decided to end their latest album The Orb with a Doors cover, and why they sought the production services of a studio that works with major French pop artists.

My thanks again to Julien for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
