"Do this bikini body workout before it's too late." "Get shredded for summer," "Lose 10lbs for a rockin' beach bod." You know the drill. As soon as the weather starts to turn, fitness companies start trying to scare you into believing you’re not good enough and you need x/y/z program or diet or product in order to be worthy of enjoying yourself at the beach.
It's all garbage! But today we want to give you more than just our opinion on the matter, and actually provide some strategies for how you can start combatting this type of marketing so that you don't fall victim to their tactics.
In summary, here are the 4 strategies we outline:
- Diversify the images you're seeing by following accounts that celebrate bodies like yours
- Find workout communities that focus on aspects of fitness outside of appearance
- Shop from companies who showcase body diversity in their models
- Create a mantra that brings you back to reality when the negative thought spirals try to take you down
