The Renegade Farmer: Lisa Kivirist, author Farmstead Chef

The Renegade Farmer is pleased to present Lisa Kivirist, writer, farmer, speaker, activist, and author of books such as Ecopreneuring, Rural Renaissance and her most recent book, Farmstead Chef. Lisa Kivirist and her husban John Ivanko are innkeepers of the award-winning Inn Serendipity Bed & Breakfast, completely powered by the wind and sun, in Wisconsin. They are both also national speakers and marketing consultants. They contribute to projects for the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition and the non-profit organization, Renewing the Countryside, providing success stories and practical resources for rural entrepreneurs and farmers. Kivirist is also a distinguished W.K. Kellogg Foundation Food and Society Fellow and program director for the Rural Women's Project of the Midwest Organic Sustainable Education Service. As a writer, Lisa has contributed articles to such publications as Hobby Farm Home, Mother Earth News, and other notable arenas involving self-sustainability and farming. Her latest book, Farmstead Chef, is co-authored with Ivanko, and showcases the creative and budget-friendly side to eating lower on the food chain, while taking responsibility for the food we put into our bodies -- by growing it, sharing it and savoring it.
