0036 — Japan's Population Crisis: A Race Against Time

Japan's Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, has issued a dire warning about the country's population crisis, stating that it is "on the brink of not being able to maintain social functions" due to the falling birth rate. The government has announced plans to set up a new agency in April to focus on the issue of child-rearing support and address the population decline. Japan's low birth rate and high life expectancy have resulted in a rapidly aging society, a shrinking workforce and not enough young people to fill the gaps in the stagnating economy.

In Japan, the population's in decline.
A dire warning, the Prime Minister did assign:
"On the brink of not being able to maintain social functions,"
He said, "it's now or never, this issue cannot wait for any conclusions."

Child-rearing support is our most important goal.
To keep our nation strong, and make it whole.
A new agency will be set up in April's breeze,
To focus on the population crisis, we must not freeze.

The high cost of living, limited space, and lack of care,
Make it hard for couples to raise a heir.
Fewer kids are born, the workforce shrinks,
The economy stalls, as the population blinks.

Attitudes shift, more couples delay,
Work pressure and economic stagnation, make them dismay.
But the government is trying, with new initiatives in play,
To address the population decline, in every single way.

Rural towns have started paying couples to breed,
But the problem still persists, it's a difficult seed to seed.

Shifting demographics are a concern in other parts of East Asia too,
South Korea, China all facing similar issues, it's true.
But Japan must act fast, before it's too late,
To ensure a future for its citizens, before it's sealed their fate.

The average real annual household income declined,
As Japan's GDP growth slowed, it's hard to find.
But with new policies and support in place,
We can work towards a brighter future, and a better pace.

We must not let our nation fall,
We must stand tall
And take action now,
To secure our future, and take a vow.

To support families, and help them grow,
To keep our nation strong, and let it flow,
With new generations to lead the way,
We'll ensure a bright future, come what may.
