Hidden Histories: The Bog Bodies of Ireland

Twenty years ago this year, a headless body was discovered by a County Offaly farmer. It quickly became apparent this was a case for archaeologists and not Gardaí and as it turned out, the ‘Old Croghan Man’ was not the first so-called ‘bog body’ to be discovered that year either.

On display today in Dublin’s National Museum of Archaeology on Kildare Street, 2003 proved to be an incredible year for Irish archeology, and for understanding the Irish past in sometimes surprising ways.

Donal Fallon joins Gavan for another episode of Hidden Histories to discuss.
