It's an amazing story that will help to transform the mining industry into a greener and more environmentally productive sector. It will start with Caterpillar developing an entire fleet of battery-powered electric machines that will mine the graphite needed to create the batteries they run on.
In turn, this will create a mining circular and green economy. What is also super exciting is that the power they use will be green as it comes from hydroelectric power generation fed into the site through a high voltage cable. Both companies will work together to develop and test the technology, sharing the journey to battery mining with other global players, so that everyone can benefit.
The knowledge gathered will also support the next generation of machines as technology and the mine move forward. Peter and Eric even talk about the potential for hydrogen and how Nouveau Monde Graphite will be at the cutting edge of every advancement in the future.
