THINK TANK SERIES LAUNCH EPISODE: Joining host Peter Haddock for the first in our new 'Think Tank Series', sponsored by our friends at Leica Geosystems, the 3D machine control and surveying specialist, are members of the new Lynch Plant Hire machine control division. They include Paul Keenan, Gez Bonner, Chris Kent and James King.

In this episode, we talk onsite and in the studio to the team about the huge investment that Lynch Plant Hire has made to develop its new division and its impact on reducing carbon emissions whilst increasing productivity and efficiency. Its new division is rolling out 3D machine control throughout the Lynch Plant Hire fleet of equipment from excavators to dozers and more. It represents the most ambitious technology investment program in the companies history, which is set to position the business as a leader in the 'Connected Worksite' of the future.

Paul Keenan has led the project to create the division: "Our vision when setting up the division was to have our own specification for machine control. Therefore, we have teamed up with Leica Geosystems and Trimble through its dealer Sitech UK & Ireland to connect every single one of our machines in the division. In doing this, we will offer our own remote support to customers, solving over 90% of issues without even going to the site.

This allows customers to really take advantage of all the benefits the Connected Worksite delivers. We have then created our operator training school where each operator goes through one on one training to ensure they know how to use the machine control system before they get to a work site."

"This will make our operators an invaluable part of the project team as they will be able to make the machine into a surveying tool, feeding back readings to our team for 'As-Built' data to be sent to the customers. We now have a 360-degree approach with everyone knowing what is happening and where we are against programme time."

Peter Haddock added: "What has impressed me about the creation of the Lynch Plant Hire machine control division is its attention to detail. The team has gone through every element of technology, training, support and collaboration when putting this together. I see this approach as a blueprint for the delivery of a "Connected Worksite'. It is a vision to professionalise the industry and deliver great outcomes for the safe delivery of projects, whilst reducing emissions and the overall impact on the environment."
