Shaykh Shammas talks very candidly about his experiences with people affected by this, and argues that Islam promotes long healthy relationships and promotes a responsibility on each of us to ensure that this can happen. He argues that avoiding resentment and long term discord by getting things out in the open is better than kicking the can down the road to avoid the difficult conversation.
