Mayor for Sparks, Nevada Geno Martini

Mr. Martini was appointed to the Sparks City Council representing Ward 3 in July, 1999 to complete an unexpired term. He was re-elected in June, 2001 and again in November, 2004. He was elected Mayor Pro Tem by the City Council in July, 2003 and served in that capacity until February 22, 2005 when he was sworn in as Mayor. He was elected to a full term in November 2006.As Mayor, Mr. Martini presides over the state’s fifth largest city. Under Mayor Martini’s tenure, the City has seen an additional one million square feet of retail businesses open. Additionally this year, the City along with RED Development, have broke ground on a one billion dollar project in the City’s Redevelopment Area known as the Legends at Sparks Marina. Mayor Martini currently serves on the Regional Planning Governing Board, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, the Truckee River Flood Project Coordinating Committee, Western Regional Water Commission, and the Debt Management Commission Award, and National Multiple Sclerosis Society Hope Award. He is active in a number of civic organizations, including serving as the past president of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, and Board of Governors of the Northern Nevada Medical Center.
