About Fireside Chat with Dennis Prager
Dennis’s weekly thoughts and timeless wisdom by a crackling fire.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg deleted a tweet from 2018 warning that humanity would be wiped out “unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.” Here we are, five years later, and the world didn’t end. If the “experts” were wrong about climate change, what else are they wrong about, and why are we still listening to them?
Life is difficult—that’s not a complaint; it’s just a fact. Once you understand that, the happier you’ll be. Parents do a disservice when they try to make life easier for their children. Instead, they should help their kids build up the strength to withstand life's difficulties (not feel oppressed at minor offenses).
Every tyrannical regime used fear to control its subjects—because that’s the only way people will willingly give up their freedom. And they do. It has happened throughout history and is now happening in the last place it ever should: America. Dennis offers advice and takes some of your questions.
This week marks one year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Many people (including some whom Dennis admires) criticize America’s involvement in the conflict. Dennis, always preferring clarity to agreement, unpacks common objections like helping a corrupt country and caring about Ukraine’s borders when we don’t protect our own. Hear what Dennis has to say.
Experts now say the COVID lockdowns and school shutdowns went too far. A new report from the CDC claims 1 in 3 teen girls are suicidal. Could these issues be related? It's no surprise to Dennis. After all, he always said, "the lockdowns are the greatest mistake in human history.” Experts at the CDC have advice for how to treat this mental health crisis, but should we listen to them or have they lost credibility? What should a retail store employee do if she feels uncomfortable setting up a gay pride display at work? It is the job of adults to protect children. But for the first time, America is failing in this regard. Dennis discusses how children are being harmed, sexualized, and robbed of innocence, even by well-intentioned adults. He shares his thoughts on a recent “All Ages” drag show at the LA Zoo and PragerU’s campaign to protect children’s innocence. Learn more about the evils of exploitation and sexualization of children, speak out, and take the pledge to protect children’s innocence:
What does justice look like for the college students who were recently murdered in Idaho? Dennis discusses the unbridgeable gulf that exists between those who think the death penalty is always wrong and those who support it under certain circumstances. With the New Year approaching, Dennis warns against making a resolution to “find yourself.” Don’t ask, “Who am I?” A better question is, “Who do I want to be?” That would be a great thing to work on this coming year to help you face challenges, be courageous, and become a better person. Thanksgiving is not a Christian holiday. It's not a Jewish holiday. It's the quintessential American holiday where people of every race, creed, color, and religion gather together just to give thanks. In this week’s Fireside Chat, Dennis talks about the importance of gratitude and how ingratitude is threatening our beloved America.
Dennis shares his reflections on his recent trip to Denmark, including his theory on the “happiest” countries in the world. When everything is free, are you happy or content? There’s a difference. He also comments on the first transgender winner of a Miss America pageant and answers your questions.
