In this participatory session, guests joined an Ashesi University Giving Voice to Values (GVV) workshop before learning more from our host and other participating Ashesi alumni about how this course fits into Ashesi’s curriculum. At Ashesi, GVV – a six-week seminar centered on role-play and discussion – is mandatory for all freshmen. GVV aims to help students develop the problem-solving skills necessary to confront difficult ethical challenges they may one day face at home, on campus or in the workforce; alumni, staff, and faculty join in as facilitators to reinforce that Giving Voice to Values is a skill which transcends academic disciplines. This course serves as a primer that will be expanded upon throughout students’ remaining time at Ashesi.
