The Secret Weapon in Business: WHY

On this episode, I want to talk about your “why.” Wait! Before you simply turn off the episode or quit reading, hear me out. I’ve read it before, but the other day I was going through my Audible account and saw Start With Why by Simon Sinek, and after listening to the first couple of hours, I was inspired.

In the book, Simon talks about how people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. This struck home for me as I reflected on the different shapes my business has taken over the years. Throughout this episode, I chat about my “why’s” and the “why’s” of the people I work with and how they’ve impacted my business. I also tell a couple of stories about different organizations I’ve been involved with and how their why’s have touched my life.

Knowing your “why” is what allows you to build deep relationships with your clients. Think about that for a moment. What are you selling to your clients? Are you selling them features? Because selling features is the wrong approach to building a lasting business. Building and nurturing relationships are the ways to create a strong and meaningful foundation and you why is the basis of that relationship.

There aren’t a lot of places for property managers and property management companies to come together and discuss their why’s for being in business. This is why I wanted to bring this topic to you today. What is your “why?” What keeps you in business? Listen in to learn more about mine!
