Everyone starts somewhere and this is our disclaimer! We willnever claim to be experts in anything we do, but learning is the magic of lifeand we want to share our knowledge and everything we learn as we take on thishomesteading lifestyle! If we can do this, so can you, believe me! Do what youcan, where you are. We don’t own 30 acres of land, we live on a farm that’sjust under 2 acres in west-central Illinois.

The community is a large part of our lives and we hope you willbecome a part of it!  One thing we have learned early in life is that noone can do everything! We know you own a great deal of knowledge and we want tolearn from you too! Follow us, Learn from us and teach us! That is what makes acommunity great, people helping people, for the common good.

I (Shawn) have always been interested in woodworking since I was asmall child. Living a slower life and spending the quality time (my favoritetime) with my family! Never have I thought that spending more time with yourboss then your children was a good idea. I do understand that money makes theworld go around. But what if you needed less of it?

My father was born at the start of the great depression. He had noidea what “depression” meant. To him, it was a way of life. He has taught memore about living simply then he knows and for that I am grateful.

This homesteading journey has been spurred along by the birth ofour first child. From the second I looked into her eyes I knew I wanted tospend as much time as possible with her and teach her how to become arespectable person and one day (maybe in 60 years) and a good wife.
