In our last episode of the season, we speak to Jascha Goltermann, design manager at Booking.com. He’s joining Hatch to talk about the learnings building Booking’s new A.I. powered trip planner, and sharing his views on how what the big leap in the technology might change the way design and tech teams work.

Today we chat with Luana Moura, a brazilian self-taught designer who is now Senior UX Manager at GetYourGuide after a career of more than 20 years. We spoke about what it takes to transition into a lead position, the differences between working in a B2B focused project in comparison to a B2C, and some other topics.

What do all these new developments mean for designers and creatives? We spoke with Nadia Piet from AIxDesign about who is really writing the future of what A.I. is, and moving beyond the "arms race" that's currently happening into creating spaces where we are the ones who define how we want this to continue.

Uliana works at eleks, and when she became a manager, she understood from the get-go that the way their team collaborates could be a real asset, especially in fast-paced environments like consultancy. She has years of experience leading product teams, but also being an external consultant with the need to organise and facilitate customer non-designer teams. Besides the topic of collaboration, we spoke about overcoming fear of feedback, becoming a better design leader, and her own experiences in the transition.

Today José Torre, Senior Staff Designer at Shopify joins me. He’s a super interesting person, and he’s known for the keynotes he does for conferences due to his amazing illustrations. I’m sure you’ve seen him either in a Medium article, speaking at Config a few years ago, or just being reposted somewhere. We spoke about the challenges of finding time to doing things we want, overcoming impostor syndrome when jumping into uncomfortable new places, and finding your own path in the design process.

Today I have a chat with Kevin Hawkins, who has been leading teams in companies like PWC, Booking, and most recently Glovo. His talk at Hatch focuses on getting buy-in for projects that are sometimes not wanted, so we dig into some examples of this, as well as on his takes on the transition from contributor to manager. Kevin moved from the US to Europe and has been involved in exciting projects for multiple companies. We get his takes on getting buy-in for projects that the leadership sometimes didn't even know they wanted.

My guest today is Sara Logel, Lead UX research consultant at UserTesting. Sara will be speaking at Hatch, about how a company called Staffbase created processes to implement fast feedback, but in this episode we focus a bit more on one of her core skills: running workshops together with companies. Sara gives us her list of top things to consider when running an internal workshop, and some tips that have worked for her in the past.

Luke Murphy started the Design Advocate Team at Zeroheight. Luke identifies as non-binary and is on a mission to further raise awareness on how designers could sometimes reinforce systemic exclusion, without being aware. Besides working at Zeroheight, Luke plays in a band , and has been an event organiser for several years. Jaime Levy, author of the book “UX Strategy”, has had an incredible life so far. Born in LA, moved to New York City where she was part of its thriving art scene, and later wrote the book that would take her around the world preaching about strategy and discovery. Jaime now lives in Berlin and will be opening the conference, we chat about the future of design and her own future in this new chapter of her life.

Today I speak with Norwegian lead designer Nada Tokerud from Buypass, who after being a senior contributor jumped into the challenges of design leadership. The bumps in the road led her to craft a very specific take on how designers and developers should collaborate, and she will be showcasing the solutions with her talk “Death to Handovers: A love letter between designers and developers” at the conference in the Ateliers stage.

Today I spoke to Dan Tase, who after living for a while in London and Berlin, settled in Stockholm where he founded a des ign studio that is small by design. Dan walks us through the challenges of having your own company while trying to stay hands on in their projects, his perspective on how companies fail to innovate when they are at a certain scale, and his vision on how new technologies will affect the work of small studios like his.

With quite a unique background in neuroscience, Natalia Filvarova works as a User Researcher at Google, helping identifying whether the people behind the screen are who they say they are, and that their privacy is protected. We talked about designing for people with disabilities, making research more inclusive and how the emotional component should play a bigger part in product design.
