Inside Curling with Kevin Martin & Warren Hansen

Wild-Card Confusion ft. Marc Kennedy

The field is just about set for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts with some curling associations holding playdowns and others naming their reps. Kevin and Warren recap the results and look into the wild-card conundrum with the rankings not paused during the latest COVID-19 crisis. Also, Curling Canada still hasn’t announced its Olympic mixed doubles team and the guys try to figure out what the holdup is with the Beijing Winter Games only weeks away.

In Hot Rock Topics, Warren attempts to clear up the confusion surrounding provincial playdowns and why Curling Canada doesn’t intervene to ensure there’s consistency across the nation. Hit and stick around until the end of the show for Story Time as Warren looks back at the infamous “LaBonte boot” controversy from 1972 as another kicked rock controversy emerged this past week during provincials.

Marc Kennedy, who is Beijing bound as Brad Gushue's alternate, joins the show to discuss heading to his third Olympics, how he’s avoiding COVID-19, what the team is planning on doing over the next three weeks, supporting the mixed double team, accommodations in Beijing, and the procedure if you were to test positive at the Olympics.

This podcast is produced and mixed by Andrew Holland, and hosted by Kevin Martin, Warren Hansen and Jim Jerome. Production support by Jonathan Brazeau and Amil Delic.
