About Maul or Nothing
The boys discuss all the biggest games of the weekend including last gasp wins in the URC and Shark beatings in Pretoria and at the hands of Harlequins but more importantly who would win out of a bull and a shark. These are some of the life affirming questions answered by the boys…. There’s also reflection on Owen Farrell’s international sabbatical and speculation around England’s best options at no. 9. Ryan also takes us through waltzing into the wrong part of town in the Munster heartland… they really don’t like him there.
Ryan is back in Glasgow Warriors colours as he takes the punditry game to a different level while Max delves deep into the heartbreaking yet encouraging Bristol match against the juggernaut that is Saracens. He was at the Stone X and takes us through the Faz horror show from the tee and whether his outburst at the referee was justified… We find out that Ryan needs no covert conversations when it comes to concussions and that Max has been given a gentle nudge before. The boys pull no punches as they breakdown each match from the URC and Gallagher Premiership
The Ultimate Rugby Hype Men and Fun Sponge Sapuccinos The boys break down a packed weekend of rugby action with Max back in the starting line up at the Bears. With unwarranted questions around Max’s on field body language the duo take us through the rugby players who pick you up when you’re down and conversely those that somehow manage to bring you right down when you’re up! Ryan breaks new ground as a pundit as he prepares to do something no other pro has ever done (apparently… according to Ryan… with very little empirical evidence and absolutely no fact checking from the MoN production team) With Antoine Dupont heading to the 7s circuit the lads (du)pontificate on the make up of their Ultimate home nations 7s team for next years Olympics (hint: very fast with very little size….) And a round up of all the weeks rugby talking points, including Maro’s money, AWJ’s final fling and Welsh worries
The boys are back together with a double filming sesh in Bristol and Cardiff. They catch up with Simione Kuruvoli and Selestino Ravitaumada to discuss the World Cup exploits of the Flying Fijians. It’s also a chance to see how Max is doing after being dropped and most importantly it’s their very first Rumour Maul… a brand new section with all things gossip from across the rugby spectrum!
The boys are in Cardiff to put The Tongan Thor, Taniela Tupou, Goosey purveyor of Grubbers, Angus Bell and Captain Rebels Fantastic, Rob Leota under the microscope. The wounded wallabies take stock of life in the post Eddie Jones period, what their World Cup camp was like, preparations for the greatest week of their lives (Barbarians drinking) and how Australia will cope when the British & Irish Lions come to town.
The boys are in the stunning surroundings of a suite at London’s poshest hotel, The Mandarin Oriental. They breakdown the last great World Cup, the controversial decisions from that epic final, the elation for South Africa and heartbreak for the brave men in Black. We’ll have Ryan and Max’s team of the tournament, they best moment, the heroes and the dicks of rugby’s showpiece event
We have All Blacks prop, George Bower, and Springbok World Cup Winner, Butch James, head to head. George has been in the All Black camp throughout the World Cup, he lets us into the mindset of the squad ahead of the final. He also takes us through sharing a flat with Sevu Reece, being an All Black body double and meeting his idols Richie McCaw and Dan Carter. Butch thinks the battle hardened Boks can still go again in final despite New Zealand’s “easy” route to Rugby’s showpiece event
Malcolm Marx and Simon Zebo break down the greatest Quarter Final weekend of all time…. Are South Africa the worst guests ever after knocking out the hosts for a 3rd World Cup in a row…. Malcolm Marx gives us the Saffa angle and talks us through his tournament heartbreak but he’ll be in Paris if the Springboks make it to the final! Simon Zebo is the voice of the Irish after their heartbreaking defeat to New Zealand... While Ryan has been ensconced in the Fiji camp with his partner in crime Niko Matawalu. It’s a 4 day bender involving hospitality, boats, lost passports and going head to head with some lower brow podcasts including GBR and our pals at Rigbiz. And Max’s opening day of the Premiership really doesn’t go to plan.
It’s not possible is it… a Springbok legend plays down the defending champions chances of beating France. Bryan Habana looks ahead to that cracking World Cup Quarter Final in Paris. Joe Rokocoko opens up on inspiring the people of Fiji and what this fabulous run at the tournament means for his people. Kenny Logan has just completed a 700 mile endurance challenge from Edinburgh to Paris in aid of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and its safe to say he and fellow star Ally McCoist never want to see Vagicil again or the actor, James Nesbitt, for that matter… The boys are joined by 3 world class wingers in Bryan Habana, Joe Rokocoko and Kenny Logan….
We're at the glamorous Mandarin Oriental with a duo of Scottish internationals in Sean Maitland and Thom Evans, to look ahead to the epic clash between Scotland and Ireland! Sean has tough calls to make between his international colleagues and his club mates… he also relives that highly controversial 2015 World Cup quarter final match with Australia. Thom takes us through that fateful day his rugby career came to an end and his showbiz lifestyle since. The boys agree on the single best moment as a professional rugby player.
It’s a bumper show with 3 stellar guests this week. We welcome Wallaby legend Matt Giteau to discuss the catastrophic Aussie World Cup campaign. Where do they go from here? Springbok star, Schalk Brits talks us through Eben’s mindset after his dance with James Lowe and what defeat means for the Boks while South African rap icon Jack Parow tells us all about his life in rugby and the bizarrest things to have happened to him while touring.
