Shmuel Beller was born in Oświęcim, Poland in 1927, not far from what would become the Auschwitz concentration camps. He was sent into several forced labor camps, and in 1944, he was moved to one of the Auschwitz camps. Samuel was then on the Death March and eventually liberated by American soldiers. He later settled in Brooklyn, where he still lives today.
