It was the hottest name in hockey. In 1994, sports fans on the south island were introduced to their new team, the Victoria Salsa. The team’s mascot was a five-foot-tall chili pepper, and the logo was a cross between a jalapeno and a pickle. But the spicy veggie’s time on the front of the jerseys was short-lived.
