Britain Covey is a wide receiver for the University of Utah football team, a freshman All-American who ranked fifth all-time at Utah in career punt returns, and led Utah in receiving yards in 2015, 2018, 2020.
Today, Britain shares some principles that have helped him to become successful, focused, and how he has developed daily habits toward winning. He shares what it was like giving up two years to serve a full-time mission for his church – and then red-shirting three times! He also gives us a peek into what it was like growing up as a grandson of New York Times best-selling author and thought-leader Stephen Covey, author of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”
Being on one of the most diverse football teams in the country, Britain believes there’s so much strength to be gained from the diversity in his teammates and friendships with them.
In a world with too many injustices, this conversation with Britain is a great reminder that we have to always find strength in Christ. At the end of the day, God’s plan is wonderful. Mankind is not going to fix all these injustices – but Christ certainly can. And if we live like Christ, we can do our part as well.
In this episode, you will hear:

His underdog story of being a small, undersized quarterback in college

To overcome the feeling of intimidation, Britain does two types of visualization: first, making the play and having a good game, and second, not making the play and how he was going to cope with it.

How his family played a role in instilling confidence in him

Leaving football for two years in the midst of a successful season to serve an LDS mission and why it was the best decision of his life

He didn't view the mission as a sacrifice at all, but an opportunity to receive more blessings, to know God better, and to grow as a man

If you put God first, He magnifies everything else in your life and things just fall into place.

How he continues to serve the church after his two-year mission in Chile

The concept of the "decade of decisions” where you don't want to let things pass you by that you decide who you want to become in your life

His grandfather’s impact on him and the things he has adopted in his life

How Britain recovered from his knee injury – When things are out of control, focus on things that make you happy.

Part of Britain’s morning routine includes prayers and visualizations.

How diversity has made their football team stronger

The principle of an abundance mindset, specifically being abundant for other people’s success given the competitive society that we have

Finding strength in Christ and also in each other’s differences
