Thi Bui is the author of "The Best We Could Do," an autobiographical graphic novel detailing her life as a Vietnamese refugee living in California. "The Best We Could Do" is a national bestseller and was a finalist for the 2017 National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) Award. At the time this interview was recorded, she was visiting the University of South Carolina as a Maxcy Visiting Fellow, in coordination with the International House at Maxcy College.
