Welche langfristige Strategie verfolgt China? "China möchte mit riesigen Infrastrukturprogrammen wie die neue Seidenstraße seinen Einfluss auf die ganze Welt ausdehnen. China will seine politische, wirtschaftliche und militärische Macht ausbauen", meint Saskia Hieber, Dozentin für Internationale Politik mit Schwerpunkt Asien-Pazifik an der Akademie für Politische Bildung in Tutzing und Lehrbeauftragte für Internationale Politik - Ostasien an der Universität Regensburg.
Der Westen - sowohl die EU als auch die NATO - müsse ihr zufolge den Dialog mit der Volksrepublik immer offenhalten. Dabei ist nicht nur die Politik gemeint. Auch die Gesellschaft, allen voran die Wissenschaft, solle wieder verstärkt den Kontakt und die Kommunikation mit China suchen.
