It can be so easy to get caught up in our thoughts & think those need to rule us, when it's the opposite. We need to not let our thoughts hold us captive, but give us the opportunity to see things in different lights & make the best decision for us.
There have been so many times where I get so caught up with what I am thinking & convincing myself that those thoughts I am having are real facts. Things that actually will control me & dictate what I have to do & not do. But this isn’t true. We are in complete control of whether we act on our thoughts or not, whether we let these things rule our lives or if we just have those things as considerations in our mind among the many thoughts we have to mull over.
I get caught up in my thoughts all the time because I’m a perfectionist & a people pleaser, so I don’t want to make the wrong decision, say the wrong thing or look stupid in front of someone because I didn’t know what the right thing to say was. And having to wade through all these thoughts in my mind can really cause me to spiral if I’m not careful. And I know I’m not the only one that struggles with this.
And you what else can make dealing with your thoughts really tough? All the external influences we receive from the world. It can come from friends, family members, social media, work or wherever else & get us to be even more confused & caught up in our head.
Today I want to remind you of 5 important truths about your thoughts that can really help you not get caught up & held prisoner by these:
- Thoughts Are Temporary.
- Thoughts Aren’t Facts.
- You’re Not Required to Believe Everything You Think
- You Don’t Have to Accept Negative Thoughts.
- You’re More Than Your Thoughts.
Keep these things in mind next time you struggle with your thoughts.
