La Chiesa cattolica celebra in questi giorni la festa liturgica di san Pio V (1566-1572), il 30 aprile secondo il nuovo calendario, il 5 maggio secondo l’antico. Quest’anno ricorre anche il 450° anniversario della grande vittoria di Lepanto, avvenuta il 7 ottobre del 1571, grazie alle preghiere e all’opera infaticabile del grande pontefice domenicano. Giunge dunque nel momento migliore una nuova biografia di san Pio V, ad opera del professor Roberto de Mattei, pubblicata simultaneamente in Italia dalla casa editrice Lindau (Pio V.
