Sometimes, when we read the old testament we feel like God is kind of different than the God we know in Jesus, why?
Is it because we had the old testament without the blood of Jesus to intercede for humanity? No! definitely not. Because the change of the Covenant was not for God to change His mind toward humanity. The new covenant changes man's mind toward God.
God has always been the same yesterday, today and tomorrow!
He does not change!
But there are a few reasons that when "WE" read the old testament, we see a different God!
