Semis, semis, semis and there was a bit of everything on show at the US Open - including a bit of Jack Draper vom on the tennis court. That aside, it was Jannik Sinner who reached his first Grand Slam final in Flushing Meadows with a straight sets victory over the Brit in conditions that pushed both competitors to the limit. And the Italian will go on to face Taylor Fritz who became the first American since 2009 to reach a Major final (Andy Roddick at Wimbledon!) with a five set win over Frances Tiafoe who was running on empty by the end.  And in the women’s draw, we may not have got the Battle of the Billionaire daughters but Jessica Pegula powered into her debut Slam final with a three set win over Karolina Muchova to set up an intriguing duel with Aryna Sabalenka who is chasing her second Major title of the season. The second week is set at the US Open in Flushing Meadows, without Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz. Words we never thought we would be saying! Alexei Popyrin got his revenge after losing to Novak Djokovic twice at slams already this year. This means Novak Djokovic is without a slam for the first time since 2017 and the first time since 2002 that one of the Big 3 have not won a slam.  Now that the draw has opened it up it presents a big opportunity for slam winner Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev as well as home hopes Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe to be the first US male winner since Andy Roddick in 2004!  On the women’s side the top seeds had no trouble racing through to Week 2, with Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Sabalenka and Paolini all breezing through to Round 4. Wimbledon Ladies Singles Final Day at Wimbledon 2024 which saw Barbora Krejcikova pick up her second Grand Slam singles title, conquering the grass of SW19. With a gritty three set win over rising Italian star Jasmine Paolini, Krejcikova became the 5th Czech women’s Wimbledon Champion in history and the seventh first time winner of the Venus Rosewater dish in a row. Britain’s Henry Patten also clinched the Men’s doubles title with his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara in dramatic fashion, saving Championships points to win in a Championship tiebreak. It's women’s semi-finals day at Wimbledon! And what a treat it was served up on Centre Court as Donna Vekic and Jasmine Paolini played the longest women’s semi in Wimbledon history, and Barbora Krejcikova knocked out 2022 Champion Elena Rybakina. Jasmine Paolini won a titanic tussle with Donna Vekic in a final set tie break to make her second straight Slam final, whilst Barbora Krejcikova will be looking to add a grass court slam to her Roland Garros trophy from 2021. They also look ahead to tomorrow’s men’s semi final action and predict whether we are likely to see another Djokovic vs. Alcaraz final set up. Joel and Kim catch up on day 10 at Wimbledon, which saw the sun come out again and showers clear but also disappointment for Alex de Minaur who had to withdrew ahead of his quarter final against Novak Djokovic, giving the 7 time Champ a free pass into the semi finals. Meanwhile, Italian tennis shows its current strength and depth with Lorenzo Musetti joining Jasmine Paolini in the semi final line up with a wily 5 set victory over Taylor Fritz. The dream Wimbledon semi-final of Sinner vs Alcaraz is OFF. Jannik Sinner was struck down by sickness but battled on to lose a tightly fought 5 setter against iron man Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev winning another 5 setter and reversing the Australian Open result that left him heartbroken in January. He will face Carlos Alcaraz who just keeps getting better and better. He hit scary heights of form in his 4 set victory over Tommy Paul and the defending Champion is looking like the one to beat at Wimbledon. In the women’s draw the sun set on Lulu Sun’s dream run at the hands of experienced grass courter Donna Vekic. She will face French open Finalist Jasmine Paolini in the first semi-final who demolished Emma Navarro with the loss of just three games. Drama was the dish of the day at Wimbledon and it was best served on Centre Court. We saw Novak Djokovic “disrespected” by the Centre Court crowd, or was he? Were they chanting Rune or “booo” either way the 7 time Champion believed it crossed a line.  Taylor Fritz became the latest player to defeat Sasha Zverev in 5 sets when he came from two sets to love down to win. His girlfriend, the most famous woman in men’s tennis shared her thoughts on social media and this seemed to cause a stir with the German… On the women’s side heartbreak for Kalinskaya who lose out to Rybakina when she retired and Ostapenko is yet to drop more than three games in a set.
