The Two Gay Geeks šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ have a chat with Parker Lorre, author of the new book, ā€œHelios High.ā€ We get to know Parker and how she came to discover writing as a catharsis for what she was experiencing as a young person. She now shares some of that with us as well as in her book. This was a great interview where we learned a lot and confirmed the age old question of characters coming alive for the authors. Have a listen and we hope you enjoy this as much as we did. About Parker Lorre Parker is an award winning writer, musician, and LGBTQ activist living in the Pacific Northwest. She is passionate about human and animal rights, co-chairs several Diversity and Inclusion committees, and helped expand employee benefits for trans and gender non-conforming individuals in her home state of Nevada. Parker is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Master of Arts in English. Helios High is her debut novel. About Helios High ā˜€ā˜€ā˜€ "Helios High" is a timeless coming of age story that proves love and friendship can overcome any obstacles, even ones of galactic proportions. In this ambitious work of science fiction, The Breakfast Club meets Scooby Doo as a group of misfits save the galaxy while serving time in detention. When Hadley Hambrick first shows up on campus, her appearance causes quite a stir. After all, she's the first earthling ever admitted to Helios High, a magnet school located in a remote sector of the galaxy. Not everyone agrees with the idea, including the enigmatic school principal. Remanded to detention, she meets a group of students unlike any she's encountered before. There's the hulking reptilian with an eating disorder, a cybernetic jock with buyer's remorse, the mind probing honor student, and an exotic girl with a mysterious past. These five misfits will need to set aside their differences if they have any chance of saving the galaxy...or at least earning extra credit. #AD Paperback Pre-order Link #AD ā€ā€ā€ā€ In our second segment, we chat very briefly about Doctor Blake Mysteries.
