The Aging Project

Deborah Hutton is a household name in Australia and a woman who’s worn many hats during her incredible career. We first met her when she graced Cosmopolitan magazine’s cover at just 16. She then went on to have a spectacular international modelling career, has hosted countless television shows, edited the Australian Women’s Weekly for more than a decade, has written a couple of cookbooks, and is an entrepreneur – and we could keep going! But today, at 60, Deborah is also a skin cancer survivor and a tireless advocate for skin cancer awareness and sun safety. She’s here with us on The Off Season to share a profound message that we hope will be the push you need to have your skin checked. In this episode of The Off Season, Deborah shares her personal experience of skin cancer and everything she’s learned since her first diagnosis twelve years ago.

Join Shelley as she chats to Deborah about:

● Her experience with skin cancer, and why she’s so passionate about sun safety and skin cancer awareness

● The cumulative effect of sun exposure and why incidental exposure is the hidden enemy

● The different types of skin cancer

● Her documentary ‘Skin Deep’, and why every Australian needs to watch it

● The importance of skin checks, and why dermatologists are the gold standard

● Why most hats won’t protect you from skin cancers, and the ones that will

● What she loves about getting older, and her daily rituals for well-being

The Aging Project Off Season delivers weekly interviews to inspire and connect us all. Real stories about real people doing inspiring things.
