Spotify was just granted a technology patent that aims to use recordings of users’ speech and background noise to better figure out what kinds of music to curate and recommend to them.
The technology could also use speech recognition to identify metadata points such as the user’s emotional state, gender, age, accent, and even their environment. This thing would even be able to figure out whether you are alone, or if you are with other people just based on the audio recording of your current environment.
