Happy monday everyone! In this episode of the Lovetoday Podcast, I speak with the exuberant and wise Desmond Jackson, a writer-director-producer who is currently a Graduate Directing Student at Chapman University, and is working towards his goal of being a feature film director. Ultimately with his films, Desmond hopes to unite, inspire, and leave audiences with a nuanced understanding of the African diaspora.
In this episode, we speak on the Black Lives Matter movement, how to create true and lasting systemic change in society instead of just "bandaid change", how people who form a part of historically marginalized groups can be better allies to the Black community, Desmond's filmmaking journey, the vibrant benefits of a daily energy work practice, and wisdom on how to let go of Ego-identification in creative work!
