  2. Huberman Lab

    2.Huberman Lab

Huberman Lab discusses neuroscience — how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health. We also discuss existing and emerging tools for measuring and changing how our nervous system works. Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology, and by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. He has made numerous significant contributions to the fields of brain development, brain function and neural plasticity, which is the ability of our nervous system to rewire and learn new behaviors, skills and cognitive functioning. Huberman is a McKnight Foundation and Pew Foundation Fellow and was awarded the Cogan Award, given to the scientist making the most significant discoveries in the study of vision, in 2017. His lab’s most recent work focuses on the influence of vision and respiration on human performance and brain states such as fear and courage. He also works on neural regeneration and directs a clinical trial to promote visual restoration in diseases that cause blindness. Huberman is also actively involved in developing tools now in use by the elite military in the U.S. and Canada, athletes, and technology industries to optimize performance in high stress environments, enhance neural plasticity, mitigate stress and optimize sleep. Work from the Huberman Laboratory at Stanford School of Medicine has been published in top journals including Nature, Science and Cell and has been featured in TIME, BBC, Scientific American, Discover and other top media outlets. 8. Ten Percent Happier with Dan Harris

8.Ten Percent Happier with Dan Harris

Dan Harris is a fidgety, skeptical journalist who had a panic attack on live national television, which led him to try something he otherwise never would have considered: meditation. He went on to write the bestselling book, 10% Happier. On this show, Dan talks with eminent meditation teachers, top scientists, and even the odd celebrity. Guests include everyone from His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Brené Brown to Karamo from Queer Eye. On some episodes, Dan ventures into the deep end of the pool, covering subjects such as enlightenment and psychedelics. On other episodes, it’s science-based techniques for issues such as anxiety, productivity, and relationships. Dan's approach is seemingly modest, but secretly radical: happiness is a skill you can train, just like working your bicep in the gym. Your progress may be incremental at first, but like any good investment, it compounds over time. New episodes come out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for free. Listen 1-week early and to all episodes ad-free with Wondery+ or Amazon Music with a Prime membership or Amazon Music Unlimited subscription.

    19.The Doctor's Farmacy with Mark Hyman, M.D.

We are seeing an ever-increasing burden of chronic disease, primarily driven by our food and food system. This is perpetuated by agricultural, food, and health care policies that don’t support health. We need to rethink disease and reimagine a food system and a health care system the protects health, unburdens the economy from the weight of obesity and chronic disease, protects the environment, helps reverse climate change, and creates a nation of healthy children and citizens. This podcast is a place for deep conversations about the critical issues of our time in the space of health, wellness, food, and politics. 20. Sliced Bread

    20.Sliced Bread

While Sliced Bread takes a break we serve up… Toast. A study of the spectacular failures of brands which had promised so much to consumers. In each episode, the presenter and BBC business journalist Sean Farrington examines one big idea. What did it promise? Why did people back it? Why did they get burnt? The new series of Toast starts on Thursday 4 April, 2024 by looking at the roadside restaurant chain Little Chef. Some of the world’s most successful businesses have also brought us some of the world’s most remarkable failures. So, what led them to be toast? And what can we learn from their stories today? Sean unpicks all the early optimism, hype and ambition. He learns about the tremendous success of a brand before hearing how it faltered, with help from expert commentators and people who were directly involved. How do they view things now and what, if anything, could have been done differently? The self-made millionaire and serial entrepreneur, Sam White, is alongside him, analysing the missteps that changed a brand’s fortunes and reaching her own, often instructive, conclusions. From big tech to high street retail and, of course, food, Toast tackles the business ideas that, one way or another, ended up cooked. Sliced Bread returns for a new batch of investigations on Thursday 9 May, 2024. In the new series, Greg Foot will investigate more of the latest so-called wonder products to find out whether they really are the best thing since sliced bread. In the meantime, Toast is available in the Sliced Bread feed on BBC Sounds. Toast is a BBC Audio North production for BBC Radio 4.

With guided meditations, bedtime stories and relaxing ambient audio Tracks To Relax offers something for everyone. New sleep meditation episodes available every Tuesday and most weekends! Listening to guided sleep meditations offers a multitude of benefits for both the mind and body, contributing to overall well-being and improved sleep quality. Here are some of the key benefits associated with this practice: Promotes Relaxation: Guided sleep meditations typically involve soothing voices, calming music, and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. These elements help induce a state of relaxation, making it easier to let go of stress and tension accumulated throughout the day. Reduces Anxiety and Stress: By guiding the listener through relaxation exercises and mindfulness techniques, guided sleep meditations can alleviate anxiety and reduce stress levels. The focus on the present moment and the gentle encouragement to let go of worries can help quiet the mind and ease racing thoughts, facilitating a sense of calmness and inner peace. Improves Sleep Quality: One of the primary benefits of guided sleep meditations is their ability to promote better sleep quality. By helping the body and mind unwind before bedtime, these meditations can facilitate a smoother transition into sleep and reduce the likelihood of tossing and turning throughout the night. The deep relaxation induced by guided meditations can also help improve the overall duration and depth of sleep. Enhances Mindfulness: Many guided sleep meditations incorporate mindfulness practices, such as body scans and breath awareness, which cultivate present moment awareness and mindfulness. Regular practice of mindfulness can lead to increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a greater appreciation for life's experiences. Encourages Positive Thinking: Guided sleep meditations often include affirmations and visualizations aimed at promoting positive thinking and self-empowerment. By repeatedly exposing the mind to positive statements and images, listeners can gradually shift their mindset toward one of optimism, gratitude, and self-love, which can have profound effects on mental well-being and overall outlook on life. Supports Mental Health: Engaging in guided sleep meditations can be particularly beneficial for individuals struggling with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or insomnia. The combination of relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, and positive affirmations can help alleviate symptoms, reduce rumination, and improve overall psychological resilience. Facilitates Self-Care: Taking time to listen to guided sleep meditations before bed can serve as a form of self-care, allowing individuals to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being. This simple yet powerful practice encourages self-compassion and nurtures a deeper connection with oneself, ultimately fostering greater levels of self-awareness and self-love. Overall, incorporating guided sleep meditations into your bedtime routine can have profound benefits for both your physical and mental health, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, improving sleep quality, and supporting overall well-being. 69.A Thorough Examination with Drs Chris and Xand

Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken investigate the science of exercise and the dangers of inactivity. Is modern exercise a wellness cult? Or is it a vital cure for a world that's struggling with ill health and stuck on the sofa? Most of us might like to get a bit fitter, but how easy is it to actually start exercising and give up sedentary habits? In this series Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken examine exercise and how best to do it. How much should we be doing? How does it help our bodies? And how does our surrounding environment stand in the way of us getting fitter? Chris is challenged to examine his scepticism towards exercise. Similarly, Xand is asked to look at his new-found exercise evangelism and see what he is really running from. Recently Xand has discovered the joys of physical activity. He's running, cycling, heading to the gym and playing ping pong like never before. It's been a real transformation and a way to keep on top of things after years of unhealthy living. His twin brother Chris, on the other hand, is really feeling the aches and pains of middle age. With a busy job and a young family, he has precious little spare time for exercise. After a very active period in his 20s and 30s, Chris is now embracing his 'Dad bod' and sliding into a creaky middle age. Xand wants to help him turn things around. Can he do it?

79.Dopey: On the Dark Comedy of Drug Addiction

Dopey Podcast is the world’s greatest podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. Chris and I were two IV heroin addicts who loved to talk about all the coke we smoked, snorted and shot, all the pills we ate, smoked, all the weed we smoked and ate, all the booze we consumed and all the consequences we suffered. After making the show for 2 and a half years, Chris tragically relapsed and died from a fentanyl overdose. Dopey continued on, at first to mourn the horrible loss of Chris, but then to continue our mission - which was at its core, to keep addicts and alcoholics company. Whether to laugh at our time in rehab, or cry at the worst missteps we made, Dopey tells the truth about drugs, addiction and recovery. We continually mine the universe for stories rife with debauchery and highlight serious drug taking and alcoholism. We also examine different paths toward addiction recovery. We shine a light on harm reduction and medication assisted treatment. We talk with celebrities and nobodies and stockpile stories to be the greatest one stop shop podcast on all things drugs, addiction, recovery and comedy pathfinding the route to the heart of the opioid epidemic.

    83.Medical Medium Podcast

#1 NY Times Best Selling Author - Medical Medium Podcast - Originator of Global Celery Juice Movement - Helping People Heal and Overcome Illness How many people do you know who struggle with their health? Chances are, whether they show it or not, most of the people in your life do. And chances are, you’re one of them — whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, endometriosis, pcos, acne, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune, thyroid conditions, lyme disease, brain fog, or fatigue. You’re far from alone. Living with symptoms has become the new normal. Much of the time, people coexist with their ailments, accepting them and never questioning why science and research hasn’t offered answers, as suffering has become the status quo. Sometimes though — an increasing amount of the time now — people’s symptoms start to impede their quality of life. They start to lose joys and privileges. They join the hidden army of those stuck at home or even in the hospital with mystery health issues. As they consult doctor after doctor and expert after expert and have trouble functioning on a day to day basis, their spark starts to go. They lose hope. No one is safe from becoming ill. With what were up against in today’s world and what that’s doing to our bodies, nobody is guaranteed that one day down the road, they won’t develop their first set of symptoms when they least expect it. This knowledge is not about living in fear. It’s about not living in denial. Join Anthony William, the Medical Medium, for this eye opening podcast, where he shares unique, original, advanced medical information decades ahead of science and research, that millions all around the world are already using to heal, and overcome chronic illness. If you want to keep the wool over your eyes, this podcast isn’t for you. Anthony William, the Medical Medium, the originator of the global celery juice movement and #1 New York Times best-selling author of the Medical Medium Book Series, including his newest book Medical Medium Cleanse to Heal, was born with the unique ability to converse with the Spirit of Compassion, who provides him with advanced medical information that’s ahead of research and science. Anthony has over 30 years of experience working with countless individuals, and helping doctors solve mysterious health cases.

  97. Don't Blame Me! / But Am I Wrong?

97.Don't Blame Me! / But Am I Wrong?

Actor/Content Creator Meghan Rienks and Producer/Writer/Director Melisa Monts are like every other person with access to a microphone, they started a podcast. But to be fair they’ve been at it for a while. It all began with one show which led to another, but as they say, more is more.  On Mondays they release Don’t Blame Me!, which is an advice podcast where listeners call in and we share our thoughts on situations such as “What to do if you’re going to your boyfriend’s family function and you haven’t told him that you previously slept with both his twin brothers.” Then on Thursdays they release But Am I Wrong?, where they ethically gossip about pop culture, politics, their lives, and the listener's  lives. Listeners write in and Meghan and Melisa tell them if they’re wrong or right in a situation.  On Tuesdays and Fridays they throw in a little something extra as well.  Meghan and Melisa strive to create community, grounded in activism, mental health, and inclusively. Think of them as your blunt, honest friends who give you the advice you need to hear, not what you want to hear, but are rooting for your success. What they lack in credentials, they make up in opinions. They’re  professional unprofessionals. So if you’re looking for a new slate of podcasts to add to your routine, we’re here for you. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
