Marjorie Nugent
Kun Marjorie Nugent jäi leskeksi, hän huomasi yllättäen olevansa täysin yksin texasilaisessa pikkukaupungissa. Miehensä hautajaisjärjestelyjen myötä Marjorie kuitenkin tutustui Bernie Tiede-nimiseen mieheen ja kaksikon välille syntyi hieman epätavallinen ystävyys.
