#10 Kwame Kwei-Armah

Kwame Kwei-Armah (actor, writer and artistic director of the Young Vic Theatre) discusses 2 plays in this special series finale of Hear Me Out. First off is American icon August Wilson, best known for 'Fences' and the recently Oscar nominated 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.' But it is his play, 'Joe Turner's Come and Gone' that gets explored here, having inspired Kwame to be a writer himself. Also discussed is Randolph Edmonds' 'Nat Turner', recounting the real-life slave rebellion of 1831. Lucy and Kwame chat spirituality, David Mamet and whether Kwame ever finds himself mimicking his favourite writers...

Hosted by Lucy Eaton, star of lockdown smash-comedy Staged (BBC/Netflix/Staged), West End actress and theatre producer. Other episodes include The Crown's Freddie Fox, Eastenders' Maddy Hill and Tony Award and Olivier Award winner Denise Gough.
