Thirty seven years ago this week (February 25th 1984) Van Halen’s "Jump" knocked Culture Club’s "Karma Chameleon" off the top of the charts and started a five week run at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It helped the album ‘1984’ reach #2 and sell over 10 million copies. "Jump" is also the only Van Halen song to hit #1.

In this episode you’ll hear the story of how Eddie Van Halen ultimately won his battle with Van Halen singer David Lee Roth and producer Ted Templeman to finally record the track. We'll break down the recording of the song and go behind the making of the groundbreaking video.

Along with a breakdown of the song "Jump" you'll hear the many different cover versions of the song dating back to 1984 right up to this day. Plus, what would "Jump" sound like alongside John Lennon’s "Imagine"? It’s one of over a handful of really cool mashups that have been created over the years using the song "Jump" and you'll hear all of them in this episode.

So...What are you waiting for? Might as well "Jump"!
