Now a major TV series starring Julia Roberts called 'Gaslit', Martha Mitchell was the wife of an important man in President Nixon's administration, which meant she knew too much, and the White House wanted to shut her up. But Martha was right about everything, and the way she was treated ended up in psychologists naming 'The Martha Mitchell Effect' after her, which is basically an official form of gaslighting.
