We were shocked and heartbroken over the passing of Akira Toriyama. This was not the episode we expected to be putting out this week but nonetheless, we dedicate this episode to his life and legacy. Covering his childhood, early mangaka career, all the way through to the rise of dragon ball, we share stories that put into perspective his impact on the Shounen genre and anime as a whole. I have admired you so much since I was a child. I vividly remember the day you called me by my name for the first time. I remember when you called me a friend for the first time. You forged an era where both adults and children could read and enjoy this medium. You showed me that manga could achieve such a thing. You made me dream that I could reach the whole world. But at the same time, it offered me an opportunity to understand the greatness of the master who created it. And of course, I wanted to do something similar. I wanted to be like my master. You were always my guide. I admired you. The story follows elven mage Frieren, a former member of the party of adventurers who defeated the Demon King and restored harmony to the world after a ten-year quest. In the past, the heroic group included Frieren, human hero Himmel, dwarven warrior Eisen and human priest Heiter. Before they part, they observe the Era Meteors together, a meteor shower that occurs once in fifty years. Frieren agrees to see them again and offers them a better view the next time the celestial event occurs. Frieren then departs and travels the world in pursuit of magical knowledge.
