David Steward, the co-founder and chairman of World Wide Technology, is a newcomer to the Forbes billionaires list for 2019, with a net worth of $3 billion. Steward is one of just four black billionaires in America, Forbes said. In fact, Steward is commonly known as the second richest black billionaire behind Robert Smith, the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Vista Equity Partners LLC.
Steward put up $250,000 in 1990 to help start the Maryland Heights-based company WWT, Forbes said. Today, World Wide Technology is one of the largest privately held companies in the St. Louis region with $10.4 billion in 2017 revenue.
