In this week’s episode, I’m giving you a sneak peek of my book, Building a Joyful Business. I’ll be reading Chapter Three: Your Joyful Customer. In this chapter, I dive deep into the mistakes a lot of women make when they’re starting out on their business journey. We discuss how to spot red flags and discover your dream clients, who are ready to invest in you!

Determining your dream client is a key part of your business strategy. So many women, when first starting out, are so excited to take on any work available that they ignore the red flags that pop up. I’ve certainly experienced that! I’ll provide you with a list of red flags that clients who are NOT your dream clients will display when you’re first meeting with them.

So, we know what we don’t want – but what do we want? I’ll guide you through how to determine your dream client with the dream client checklist. The more specific you can get about what your dream client would look like, the better!

It’s happened: you took on a client that wasn’t a great fit. What next? Chapter Three gives you the simple 4 steps to firing a client. First, communicate the problem openly and honestly. Offer the client a period of 2-4 weeks where they can correct their behaviour to continue working on the relationship. If the behaviour goes uncorrected, you’ll have to fire the client, with grace and caring. Finally, cash out – if, and only if, you have to offer a refund, do it ASAP.
