#135 | The Power of Intention | Derrick’s Warstory

So many times when we’re in the thick of our disease, we’d go into getting clean with the wrong intention. Maybe it was to get someone off our back, intending to figure out how to moderate properly. Or maybe it was to take a break from the chaos and to clean up for a while. Whatever it was, it wasn’t until we had the right intention, that we were finally able to do what was necessary to stay clean and sober.

This week, we’re talking about the power of intention with a warstory from Derrick. Derrick always seemed to find his way into clicks where drinking was the norm. Whether it was sports, the army, or the party life socialites, it didn’t take long for his drinking to escalate to other drugs. Lying, sneaking, trouble with the law, and taking advantage of others are all a part of his story. Though there were many false attempts to get clean, it wasn’t until he went to rehab with the intention to stay clean that he truly was able to surrender to the help the way he needed to. Today he lives a life of recovery and works to stay sober through a 12 step program.
