Do you feel like you want to make change, but something is holding you back? Do you feel like you’re doing everything right, but something just isn’t clicking? This episode will walk you through how to cultivate change and provide fertile ground for your roots to grow.

It’s the beginning of spring time, so today we are talking about intentionally planting seeds in fertile soil in order to cultivate growth over a long period of time. How are we going to do this?

  • Think about what kind of ‘fruit’ we want our tree to grow
  • Redefine our goals and set intentions around this
  • When we see other people’s trees and their fruit, we often overlook the roots. The roots give the tree nourishment to live and thrive.
  • This type of comparison isn’t beneficial for us. We’re worried about the other trees we see, instead of our own.

What kind of soil do you need? Let’s do an Environment Audit:

  • What are you currently doing in your life and is it supporting the life you want to live?
  • Evaluate your habits, are they nurturing you?
  • Look at what you consume and what you’re taking in. Are you creating more than you’re consuming?
  • If we’re consuming more than we create, we’re not taking action. You may be caught up in analysis paralysis.
  • Who are we surrounding ourselves with? Are they negative influences for us? If this is the case, it’s important to set boundaries (listen to my episode on that here: 011 Stop Being a Robot: The Power of Intentions)
  • Audit your self talk. What do you think about yourself? How do you speak to yourself? Catch yourself when you start thinking negative thoughts about yourself, work to pour positivity into your life.

Mindful and Intentional Change

  • Change is a beautiful thing. With change, there are things we need to release in order to redefine who we are.
  • You don’t need to change everything you are and who you are. It’s easy to get consumed with an ‘all or nothing’ mentality.
  • The ‘all or nothing’ mentality isn’t sustainable. You shouldn’t want to fundamentally alter who you are, you want to embrace your most authentic self.

How do we create this growth? We need to have strong roots.

  • What does my fruit look like? What’s my highest self look like? Have a vision and big picture.
  • This is where most people stop.
  • We want to see that big dream, and break it down. Reverse engineer it. What small steps can I start to take?

How do we create a foundation that supports that growth?

  • Get grounded into who you really are.
  • Break it down further and think about how you can start to shift your environment.
  • What are the small things that can make a big difference.
  • If weight loss is something you want? Ask why and get the bigger picture. What small goals will support that most confident self? Then break it down again, what are some habits and mindset shifts I need to implement or change that will help me stay rooted in those goals and help me continue to grow?
  • What are actions that can support that?
  • You need to come first, and prioritize yourself. If you don’t do this, you’ll be growing without being rooted.

How do we stay rooted and grounded?

  • We often focus on the end goal, but to get there we need to be grounded and rooted in good soil.
  • Roots are not the most visible part of the tree, but they are the most important part.
  • As you grow upward, so do your roots downward. Continue to work on the behind-the-scenes parts of yourself.
  • We will always be growing, it will be messy and tangled. Focus on the ‘why’
  • Don’t get stuck on every detail of your growth, focus on the details of your environment.
  • You won’t see a tree grow, so realize that your growth will happen slowly as well.
  • Remind yourself, you’ve created amazing soil, and you are planting the right seeds for what you want to achieve.
  • Trust in yourself. Release the outcome and let it happen. Trust and know that you are growing.
  • Don’t hold on to control and fear, that will hinder your growth.

I’ve helped so many clients get to this point through their Body Confident Blueprint journey!

  • A year later, they are continuing their healthy habits.
  • Even better, they are leveling up! Starting new things and making big changes, even if that means getting a little confidently uncomfortable.
  • BCB isn’t about just about investing in yourself for 90 days, it’s about planting seeds and feeling grounded in who we are. It’s about letting go of comparison. You can thrive and be who you’re supposed to be, you’re never done growing.

Action steps for this week:

  • Visualize what your fruit looks like (big goals)
  • Audit your environment
  • Reverse engineer your goals
  • Adjust your environment to support your end goal
  • Let go of the outcome and focus on creating healthy soil
