We're back! To kick off our second season of 'Getting Personal' we're joined by the one and only Amy Dowden. In the middle of the UK's third lockdown, we had a wonderful chat with Amy over Zoom which is definitely one for all of the Strictly Come Dancing fans out there. We chatted all things Strictly with Amy, from what it was like to film during lockdown and bubble up with her partner, to her memories with her fellow professional dancers and how it feels to be judged on national television. We also chatted about her career highlights and how she found love through dance. Last year, Amy also released a documentary with the BBC titled 'Strictly Amy: Crohn's and Me' which detailed her experience living with Crohn's disease. Amy shared with us what it was like to be so vulnerable and how she felt sharing her story with the nation. Our guest this week is an activist who founded the ‘Januhairy’ movement back in 2019. An initiative that encourages women to grow their body hair for the month of January and share images of themselves online, whilst also donating to ‘Body Gossip’, a charity that combines Arts & Education to empower everybody to be the best version of themselves. Our guest first started growing out her body hair in May 2018 as part of her drama degree performance at the University of Exeter. After feeling liberated and more confident in herself, she thought of Januhairy and became eager to get more friends and family involved for the month of Januhairy.  The campaign hashtag has now attracted thousands of posts from women across the world. Januhairy is not about shaming women who choose to remove body and facial hair, as our guest has said for the Guardian online at the beginning of this year; “Shave whenever you want to, but make sure you’re making the choice for you... It’s not just about hair, it’s about building a conversation around the subject.” We’re incredibly excited to announce our final guest for our first season. Our guest this week is the author of the New York Times and international bestsellers ‘Holding Up the Universe’ and ‘All the Bright Places’, the latter of which was a smash Netflix film starring Elle Fanning and Justice Smith. Today we are joined by Tenille Townes, one of the hottest stars in country music right now, who called in to chat to us all the way from Nashville, Tenessee. Born in Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, our guest was nominated for her first major award for Female Artist of the Year in the Canadian Country Music Awards at only 17 and has since become one of the genre’s biggest rising stars. In the past few years our guest has toured with some of the greatest country artists of this generation, opening for Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley, and in 2019 took home four awards at the Canadian Country Music Awards. After years of work, she also released her debut full length album, The Lemonade Stand, earlier this year. In incredibly exciting news our guest has also been announced as the winner of ACM award for New Female Artist of the Year after Keith Urban surprised her with the news over a Zoom call. On September 16th, as well as receiving her award, she will be joining the iconic artists from Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Gwen Stefani to perform at the awards, which will be broadcast from different venues across Nashville and hosted by Keith Urban.  Today we are getting personal with Tenille Townes.
