What Triggered You?! - List of Triggers to Consider Understanding

Let's chat about triggers & discovering that some of your reactions may be due to triggers you didn't know existed. I'll also be sharing a list of triggers to consider if you believe you might have experiences you are consistently reacting to.

Show Notes:
A lot of times we get triggered by things & are not even realizing that our reaction is due to a trigger. A trigger is when something comes up that reminds you of a negative experience you went through. And that can be anything, like someone you encounter resembles an attacker, you go a place where something negative happened before, you observe someone else getting abused the way you were, hearing similar words or verbal attacks you have dealt with in the past, or even being touched a seemingly innocent way that was used abusively before.

I didn’t realize until the last couple years that getting hugs from people I don’t have a very close relationship with was very triggering for me. It made me feel very uncomfortable, but I never took the time to really understand why or that I was even that weird about it, unless someone was trying to give me a hug. It’s interesting because it was other people’s comments that really opened my eyes to something that I was dealing with.

Which is something to be aware of, too. You might not think you have any triggers, but you could without even knowing it & those close to you could be really insightful if you feel like it’s something you want to know more about.

And today I want to chat about 10 different things that have been known to cause triggers & situations to consider thinking over when these happen to better understand yourself & growth personally. some

  1. Feeling forgotten or excluded.
  2. Feeling unsafe.
  3. Feeling like you aren’t cared for.
  4. Feeling unloved in any type of relationship.
  5. Feeling trapped.
  6. Feeling like you couldn’t speak up or unheard.
  7. Feeling like something wasn’t fair.
  8. Feeling like someone is blaming you.
  9. Feeling judged by others.
  10. Feeling like you’re being manipulated.

Hopefully having this set of examples & speaking on triggers is helpful to you!
