What is the shadow?
The shadow is an aspect of self that is often more hidden than seen, and through the growing years and societal conditioning are sometimes taught to repress or reject these aspects of self. Yet the shadow, or what grows in the dark, is a part of what grows and is seen in the light. A shadow can be a certain emotion, physical characteristic, neurological wiring, personal challenge, desire, sexual preference, impulse, trauma, etc. Not recognizing, acknowledging, and learning how to work with the shadow can create a life of suffering and depression, as well as perpetuate addictions and unhealthy choices. Addictions range from substance abuse including alcohol and narcotics yet can also include healing medicines such as cannabis and psychadelic mushrooms, materialism such as gross consumerism and wasteful or mindless of eco impact living, drama, gossip, victim mindset, and more.
